  1. Because they don't understand it and it's against the way they've been brought up under shariah law

  2. The turnout in the elections in Iraq was around on par with turnout in America or Britain so they are as willing to operate in a democracy as the citizens in these countries. Which is amazing in a conflict ridden country like iraq. The threat to iraqi democracy comes from the socailly unstable base of the western occupying forces and the fact liberation has meant bolstering themselves on ethnic and sectarian groups. This is the greatest threat to democracy in the nation.

  3. You got this wrong, they don't want american chad fiddling type democracy but then who the h**l does.

  4. I'm not sure if they dislike democracy, I think they dislike the way they've been given it. At the end of the day, I guess they see it as patriotism. Their nation was invaded and defeated, and I think that matters a whole lot more to them than their political system.

  5. i'm sure most Iraqis want a democratic state, just not one where the US is taking all of their natural wealth. A small minority are actually extremists in the Muslim sense, most of them are ETHNICALLY DIFFERNT or from different sects of the same religion.

Just to let yuo guys know,I'm a liberal-Agnostic-kindabroughtupmuslim so when you lot say oh 'they cant wear what they like' blahblah the issue isnt that its more about parents letting their children go to school withoutfear they're going to die on the way. And of course, Shari'ah is outdated.. the book is really old- the problem i since the calipahte ended there is no one islamic body to modernise the religion..most muslims agree there is very little place for the punishments, strict rules etc. in today's society. A state which has attempted this is Pakistan, whcih is surprisingly liberal- very few veiled women in cities, general freedom- unfortunately it has MASSIVE internal issues but these aren't religion related more corrupt, feudal dead leader's husband wants presidency issues..

  6. It's pathetic the way the Americans are trying to push all the blame for the chaos in Iraq onto the Iraqis.

What would happen in every US city if the police and army were disbanded?

Remember the civil disorder and looting in New Orleans after Katrina removed police intervention?

  7. It's not the best thing either.  A democracy is only good if it helps all its citizen---right now it helps only the rich and wealthy.  I mean, c'mon:  minimum wages and no paid sick leave/vacation leave/health insurance/401K---people work their butts off for less than 7 bucks an hour--it takes at least 22-23 dollars/hour to make it through the month.  So what is so good about that?

  8. 1. Its a foreign concept to them

    2. They just want Americans to leave

    3. If all the Iraqis get together and say "we don't want democracy" isn't that a form of democracy?

  9. The Iraqis probably d want democracy, just not the way we're trying to give it to them. We;re trying to force our system onto them as opposed to just waiting for them to have their own revolutions and revelations about their government. Since we went in there all guns a blazin and just started blowing **** up and not maintaining order right away, they tried to maintain their own order, which varied from person to person and created the lack of control in Iraq and will continue to slow the process of them getting a democracy

  10. Iraqis are smart. What has democracy given us ? Financial Meltdown! Economical slaughter! Gordon brown! George Bush! Margaret Thatcher! Smoking bans! Asbos! Large MP Expesnses! Littering Laws! Friendly Fire! Democracy seems so attractive and tempting. NOT!

  11. Here is an excerpt concerning how they feel.

'Arabs and Muslims were pulled in two directions. That they rallied not so much to Saddam Hussein as to the bipolar nature of the confrontation (the West versus the Arab Muslim world) and the issues that Saddam proclaimed: Arab unity, self-sufficiency, and social justice.' As a result, Saddam Hussein appealed to many people for the same reasons that attracted more and more followers to Islamic revivalism and also for the same reasons that fueled anti-Western feelings. 'As one U.S. Muslim observer noted: People forgot about Saddam's record and concentrated on America...Saddam Hussein might be wrong, but it is not America who should correct him.' A shift was, therefore, clearly visible among many Islamic movements in the post war period 'from an initial Islamic ideological rejection of Saddam Hussein, the secular persecutor of Islamic movements, and his invasion of Kuwait to a more populist Arab nationalist, anti-imperialist support for Saddam (or more precisely those issues he represented or championed) and the condemnation of foreign intervention and occupation.'[23]

  12. Do you remember when you were little and being forced to eat something that was apparently good for you.

  13. They can't get past religion - it controls everything they do.

  14. Because they just don't

The same reason you don't want Shariah

  15. Who care! We will just ramp it down their throat.

  16. Islam is incompatible with democracy and the West. Free thinking poses an unacceptable threat.

  17. How did you figure it out ?  They want democracy , just do not want USA to dictate them how to do things.

  18. because they dont want Your kind of democracy. They want your tired behinds to leave Their country and buy your oil elsewhere.

Everybody in the world does Not want to be like the us.  Too many phonies here.

  19. Democracy!!! How they do not have a choice because their country has been invaded by US aggressors!!! Why are they there? if not for oil and control of the middle east?  And do you think that you have democracy in you country with such poverty along side the corrupt rich people?

Don't be conned by politics. They are different horses from the same stable to con you into thinking that your vote counts, well it doesn't. Go to you tube and type in "Clinton Curtis voting machine" and you will see the inventor swearing in court that the votes are fixed.

Go to you tube and type in "the real John McCain".

In a democratic society your vote SHOULD count!
