  1. My Great-Grandmother didn't have running water!

But She often told me to just "shut my mouth!"

When dealing with onions, of course!

  2. Because the flow of the water actually pulls the fumes of the onion away from your face. You can also hold wooden matches in your mouth and the sulfur absorbs the fumes and your eyes will not water either.

  3. Nothing magic here.  When we cut onions, a spray of juices flies up from the onion into the air and onto the sink surface.  When you turn the water on, it just moves the juices out of the way.  When you turn the water off, they float back down.

  4. Must be a matter from Science. Find Beakmans world website. Was a Saturday morning kid science show.

My eyes burn from this question.
