  1. You could and they would drown, but that's just cruel and unneccessary. They're living creatures too who also have a right to be there. Much better to encourage a proper eco-system in your garden - we used to be over-run with the swines (you couldn't go out at night, it was like a horror movie) until we got some frogs in the pond and acquired a couple of hedgehogs. Now you can walk up the lawn at midnight in bare feet and not a sign of one. No damage to the hostas either :o)


  2. I scoop em up and stick them in the compost heap they eat their little lives away happily chewing on the detritus untill it becomes super hot then they die and add to the heap.

  4. Slugs have to be wet to breathe, their skin is like your lungs turned inside out. They'll be quite happy in water till they get bored and climb out.

    Are you thinking of beer? That contains little oxygen and is obviously full of chemicals, so they can't breathe in beer.  Bit more expensive I know, but beer is the more efficient option.

    They don't want to climb out of beer :0)
