Many people do, but it is several times more expensive than conventional oils so there is little economic incentive to do so.

Synthetic oil cost about 90 to 100 dollars a barrel to make right now and its just a matter of economics, until we find an effecient cheap alternative oil is what we will use

We should use a lot more ethanol - right now we pay farmers to not grow crops. We should stop that and have them grow ethanol products that would replace oil

Brazil no longer imports oil - we could do that too and it would be carbon neutral as well!
