Why dose my cocktiel have a bald spot on his head?

I bought him from a pet store when i got home i seen it.It has been about 4 months and it has not grown back.What is it and will it ever grow back.

  1. Is you tiel a lutino? Lutinos have an inherent gene for baldness.

    This gene can be passed on to other mutations as well (if 1 of the parents had this gene your bird if another mutation could be a split).

    If I parent bird had this gene it is *possible* that the bald spot could grow in completely or fully as he gets older.

    If both parents had the gene it won't grow back in.  


  2. It means he is stressed or not happy in his environment if you make him feel more comfortable and give him affection (ok it is a bird but still) then he should settle down and get used to his new surroundings
