Why dose my swamp cooler stink!!!?

Everytime i turn on my swamp cooler it smells like wet dog or fish. Please help me what do i do to make it stop. i can't stand it anymore the smell lingers for hours.Whats wrong with my cooler??

Most likely you need to clean the swamp cooler and change the padding or filters.

Change the matting in the cooler...it's old.
