Why dose the U.S extract more natural resources from the ground than canada?

Canada has a lot of useless ground in terms of farming. they can't grow as much stuff.The US does a lot of farming (which can be viewed as extracting natural resources) so that could be one reason.

We have a much larger population.. We are more hoggish.  We just like to consume more.

The USA has 10x the population & thus more demand for natural resources.

The resources are more accessable in the US (i.e. not as many under the arctic tundra, Alaska excluded).
