It would not lower the prices that much, we would run out way to fast, and why destroy untouched nature....some of the last of its kind?? Why do people think we should drain the earth of all its oil before we try to find an alternative source??

  1. To get oil and reduce our dependency on foriegn control of oil.

  2. i fail to see how tapping new oil sources would deplete the supply faster...and oil is continually being produce by mother earth, it's not a "one time" deal.  and how do you think it will destroy nature?  the drilling platforms take up a very small footprint, and the pipelines have not shown any ill effect on wildlife migrations.  you are an ill-informed alarmist.

  3. To make money!!!!    Whats British Petrolium going to do if they can't drill in Alaska and send the oil to Asia where they can get more money for it than in the US?   Other than that, there isn't much reason at all.   It will happen soon though.   Iraq has a 15 year supply of oil, for the US!   The rest of the world will take care of Iran, Saudi Arabia,...   Then there is the find off the Gulf Coast and Brazil which will last another 5 or so years maybe.   If we don't find a radically different transportation energy source within ten years we will need to drill there no matter how much damage it might cause.

  4. i thought it would be good idea cuase i heard that the oil keeps producing so how owuld we run out so fast, or is it not producing? it would help with the gas a whole lot? what about canada, could me drill there? we need some kind of reliefe from these prices im scared the worl is going to suffer befor i can really enjoy life :(
