It cant be.

Generally they work 6-8hr shifts.

However, for freight pilots, this might go up.

If the railroad is american, not only the pilot but the railroad it self can get a hefty fine for violation of the hours of service.  The longest time that the same crew can move a train is 12 hours.  At 11:59.59 seconds, the train better be tied down and paperwork should be done.  Yes paperwork is concidered under the hours of service.

If "sealdah division" was in America or China and I as a pilot had any questions for management the issues would be addressed by the Union Officers that represent me.  America permits the

voluntary formation of union(s) within the workplace.  China requires the formation of organised labor in labor management structures.  As a union member I reserve the right to vote away

any elected officer that fails to properly represent my interests.

Personally view 18 hour working hour conditions as colonial.
