  1. because of their culture, they are in bondage

  2. Because they are more into old-fashioned mannerisms, like quietness, politeness, letting other people speak first, children being seen and not heard, not being boisterous and loud, etc...Have you ever noticed how shy and skittish young Japanese and other Asian girls often seem to be?

E.g. Once, I ran into a girl at a Japanese food party and spilled something, but she INSISTED on taking the blame and thought it was her fault and stammered really worriedly, "Oh, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!" etc...

  3. Where exactly are you drawing the line geographically?

  4. i know what youre saying but of course that is not relevant being applied as a whole. those little crossdressing boys they have in tokyo and places, who come out every night in drag to entertain, are more than a little "extroverted". though this is common in big cities, which seem more "westernized".

i can really only speak for the US, since thats where i live and am from. but people here usually pity you or think you have depression or other mental issues if youre a "loner" or introverted, despite the fact that there is a large percent of naturally more introverted people in any place. but people here more often value the "type a" personalities, people who are "driven", and have an outgoing "charm". i do think this mentality is to our detriment. it seems their priorities are more in line with enlightenment and not feeding the ego as much.

i think what it comes down to is that their ideas of what it means to "respect" someone is extreeeeeemely different from the western ideals in many ways. it seems they find more respectable qualities in modesty and humility and such. just a thought

  5. One group values the individual.

One group values "family" over individuality. Infact being an individual doesn't even come in as a close second, it's looked down upon and labels you a troublemaker.
