Why every time i try and use my scanner i see "an error occurred communicating with the scanning device?"?

the scanner is properly connected! i als see "the hpqdirec. exe' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly" what must/can i do to resolve this and get my scanner working? please help me!

It sounds like the problem is with the software, not the scanner itself. I know that printers have to have drivers (bits of software that make them work with the PC) so I am assuming that scanners do too -- you might check online and see if there are any updated scanner drivers, and download the latest one.

Un-install then re-install and reboot. Then try it.
