  1. Cause Georgian president is legally insane. Have you ever seen him speak? Look at his body language, his facial movement, he has all signs of an insane person. He overestimated the support of the West and thought he could have a quick blitz on SO and get away with it. Underestimation of Russia and overestimation of the West will cost him his country. You can bet that Russia is not gonna stop, Georgia will go down in a week or so. He stepped over the line of what his country of 6 million is capable of, now he's gonna have to deal with the consequences...

  2. Put is flexing his power he is trying to gain some territory and don't think for one moment that he wouldn't like to see some of the other small countries join in. He would then swoop all over them and take them back into the fold. He is looking for territory and more power, I think he is becoming a danger to many.

  3. Because a separatist movement in Georgia. Below is a good link about it.

  4. Few scenarios here, you can also call it proxy war. Georgia backed by EU & US attacked S.Ossetia killing civilians and Russian peace keepers. Russia already prepared for such an event viciously retaliated. Keep in mind S.O's think of themselves as an independent state, and majority of S.O's hold Russian citizenship.

For US & EU it was a test, and the results weren't what they wanted, that Russia is serious. It is part of a bigger picture, a lot is going on behind the scenes. Georgia was just stupid and provoked Russia. Russia by retaliating has shown it has clear intentions to guard its interests.
