  1. together because they are social creatures and feel more comfortable the more ferrets that are around them.

  2. Ferrets are in many ways like humans with there behaviors, why do some humans not get along? lol and of course they like to be together no one likes to be alone all the time.

    Good Luck

  3. Depends on the individual ferret. Most are social and prefer the company of another ferret or two, but there are those that prefer being alone.

Most people agree that ferrets are most closely related to the European polecats, which are solitary animals. If ferrets were living in the wild, they would most likely be solitary as well and not live together in groups. They didn't really become group animals until after being domesticated. Some ferrets do revert back to normal adult polecat behavior and will prefer to be alone. I have one ferret now (he was actually my first) that I consider a "solitary ferret." He's not mean or nasty towards the other ferrets, but he does seem to prefer being alone. When they're out playing, the other four will be playing with each other and Dodger will be off by himself or nuzzling up with me. He does play with the other ferrets from time to time, so I wouldn't say he's a totally solitary ferret, but you can tell that he doesn't need the other ferrets to be happy.

  4. I agree with the people that said it depends on each ferret. I've had my share of "solitary ferrets" and I've seen many more in the shelters I've volunteered in. There are those that prefer being alone but will get along with other ferrets and then there are a few that just cannot be housed or kept with another ferret. The majority will be happier with another ferret friend, but keep in mind, not ALL are social.

  5. uummm i don't ******* know stupid *****

  6. I worked at a pet shop that carries Ferrets and occasionally you will get some that don't like to play nice.  It just depends on the individual Ferret, but can also be the result of other things. Ferrets usually prefer a housemate and a play partner as it keeps them from being lonely or bored.  You can keep them alone, however you will need to spend more time with it and let it out of its cage to roam more than if it had a buddy.  Small enclosure, limited food, territoriality, limited sleeping areas, lack of toys etc could have an effect on morale, and thus make the Ferret and unruly inhabitant.  Also if they are young they can be a bit more bitey than older Ferrets.
