  1. the gulf air stream

    the winds goes that direction

it easier to surf the stream of air

  2. upper atmospheric winds (jetstream) travel at about 120mph west to east. Time zones cancel this out usually but much faster travel time

  3. I think if you were to check flight times you'd see there is no difference.

  4. Time zones have nothing to do with it. A 10 hour flight will take 10 hours regardless of time zones.

The answer lies with the jet stream.

  5. if you're traveling across the international date line, and east to west, you're gonna be a day earlier. and vice versa.

  6. Because of wind patterns. Wind blows from west to easy, so when you are flying in that direction you are flying with the wind, but when you are flying from east to west, you are flying against the wind.

  7. Because of the jet stream, which travels counter-clockwise (eastbound) around the earth. You can "surf" on it and it therefore takes less time. This does not apply between the tropic of cancer and the tropic of capricorn, though.

  8. Time zones I think.

  9. 1. Time Zones

    2. The Jet Stream (even though flying the Great Circle route is faster than flying the Jet Stream.)

  10. Earth turns from west to east, that way you go more distance as oppose to east to west

  11. by plane; it take longer to fly from east to west for the same distance,  because the wind blow from west to east.  The prevalent wind is toward the east
