I just about had my grandpa almost believing that stuff, then we get to the part where Jesus is looking for figs on a tree when figs weren't even in season. Mark 11:13

Jesus was getting all perturbed and stuff. His disciples were looking at each other "What's up with this?"

  1. Yeah, that was a fair test, wasn't it?  "I command you to bear fruit for my refreshment!" when it's not even in season and the tree doesn't have the ability to hear and comprehend in the first place.

  2. He was hungry and cursed it to never bloom And it does not flower at all.

  3. The fig tree is a symbol of Israel.

It also failed to bear fruit, and it was summarily plucked out by the roots and burned in 70 AD, by the same guys who crucified Jesus Christ, just as Jesus predicted.

  4. This is a true answer. Based on real Bible study.

God designed the fig tree to bare figs and fig-leaves together.

This tree was posing as a source of supply to the hungry.

This tree was lying, like a false advertiser.

This tree was an example of phony Christians pretending to be good and loving when in reality that are fakes and without real love (fruitless).

Those type of phonies will be cursed to live forever in h**l.

That is the real reason for this example to be included in the teachings of Jesus in the Bible.

  5. The Lord works in mysterious ways.  And he really really likes figs.

  6. The fig tree was exercising its free will and waiting until it was pollinated to produce fruit.  This obviously was not in Jesus' plan, so he acted just like his Father when He hardened Pharaoh's heart.  What can I say, like father, like son.
