  1. I dont think you can find fossils in metamorphic rock. It may be because the temperatures are so high that when the metamorphic rock is forming, the fossils cannot form.


  2. Metamorphic rock is formed under extreme pressure and heat.  These conditions do not favor the formation of fossils.

    Fossils can still be found in metamorphic rocks if they have not been too severely altered, but most often all trace is obliterated of any fossils that the rock might once have contained.

    There have been discoveries of fossils in metamorphic rock of the slate belt of Alabama.  See:

  3. because of the extreme heat and pressure a rock undergoes before it becomes a metamorphic rock, fossils are often destroyed
