Why gerbils are better than hamsters?

i bought two hamsters a week ago. let me tell you. i hated one of them..it bit me! and trust me it hurt like h**l! no lie! well one of them was sick and got the other one sick so they both died! so today i bought two gerbils. at first i didnt want one because i didnt like the tail. it reminds me of a rats tail but hairy. the lady encouraged me to go ahead and pet one. so i did and i loved her! she didnt bite and was the sweetest thing in the world. i sit her on my lap and head and she stays...i love her! so i suggest you guys get gerbils instead of hamsters. <3

there is no reason to hate a hamster for biting you. they bite for a reason, just like you cry for a reason.

the hamster may not have been tamed or handled properly when it was a baby so therefore it was not used to humans.

or you could have swooped your hand from above making it think you were going to attack it. another reason could be that you may have smelled like food so it mistook you.

the gerbil you held could have been handled properly. the lady seemed nice so she would have been caring about it.

remember, all living things have their own personalities, not just humans.

so this does not neseccarily mean that gerbils are better than hamsters. there are many nice hamsters out there.

Hamsters are different, not all of them bite

my sister once had one that she couldn&#039;t pick up because it bit her and mine was soooo nice. they were both dwarf hamsters. i didn&#039;t know gerbils were nice too. I just don&#039;t want one because they remind me of rats but if they are nice, ill think about it!

You only want opinions?  because theyre are many FACTS that make gerbils better :P.

But yes, I do think gerbils are better.  Why does everyone think they&#039;re tails are disgustinG!!!! theyre like kittyy tails! and also, rats are EVEN BETTER(smarter than both and love you more)

edit: i guess some hamsters are pretty good too... but gerbils are in fact smarter and usually nicer (if tamed)

First off what kind of hamster was it because dwarf hamsters are soooooooooooo mean ,usually. I have a teddy bear hamster and its so nice.
