Question:

Why get rid of Eyre?

The Chicago Cubs designated lefty Scott Eyre for assignment today. Why give up on Eyre when you could just get rid of Bob Howry. I know Eyre's contract is up soon, but still Howry has been awful. Eyre has already cleared waivers, and is aviable for trade.

Who do you think the Cubs could get for Eyre, and do you like the fact that he will no longer be a Cub?

  1. A level 2 baseball TC? now i KNOW i've seen it all!

25 BAs out of 59 answers? no wonder you hide your Q & A. something fishy.

Eyre is / was horrible (7.15 ERA) & an injury concern at 36 years old

  2. Scott Eyre shouldn't make such a difference for the Cubs. In order to make room for Wood, they needed to designate Eyre for assignment. While I personally don't like Howry, I believe he is much more of an impact player than Eyre. Yes, Eyre had a scoreless streak of 22 innings, but since then he's been horrible.

  3. Rey Mysterio

  4. While I agree Howry hasn't been that great lately, Howry has more upside then Eyre does.  Not to mention Eyre has been on the DL the majority of the year and has basically been useless to the ball club this year.  Someone has got to go to make space for Samardzija in the bullpen and Eyre is the obvious choice there.

EDIT:  Couldn't agree more with Roadkill and That Guy. Something is very fishy about a level 2 top contributor.  Especially one that hides all his questions and answers.

EDIT 2:  All of the questions you answered have no more then 4 people that answered the question.  It's easy to get best answer when you have a 25%, 33%, 50% or 100% chance at getting it.

  5. Dude, Scott Eyre has not had a good inning ever since the day the scoreless streak ended.

This is just the same thing that happened to Marmol a couple of weeks ago, he is in a slump and Lou wants to get him out of it.

Edit: And I agree with Roadkill on the level 2 TC thing, I smell something fishy.

  6. LOL.   Why keep him?  He's garbage.
