It's the Indian thing about male supremacy. Girls CANNOT step out of the circle drawn for them. Men can, and do it because they know the girls can't. It takes a strong girl to break the rules and propose first. That doesn't mean the girls have to stop dreaming though, which is why they want men to propose.
