Why has Channel 7 messed up the Olympic viewing?

Softball on Channel 7 at prime time - whilst we are missing out on the basketball - Australia against US (biggest game of the tournament) and athletics.

No apology and no reason to watch the insignificant Softball match that has been going on for hours.

Channel 7 need to prioritise and give us highlights rather than expect us to wait for them to show what happened hours ago!!! - just hope Channel 9 do a better job next time.

Although C7 has had c**p coverage, I can understand the softball.  It was a medal game, it was an opportunity for Aust to make the gold.  Lets be honest, we missed the start of the basketball and in realistic terms we are not going to win the match and any thought contrary was a pipe dream.  No one knew the Softball would go 12 innings so in theory had there been a result in regulation there would have been time between the two.  The softball deserved the same as any other sport, it was a miracle they showed that game without interruption.

It is a good thing to know though that this is the last olympics C7 have.  The next winter and summer are C9 and foxtel.  So I guess that comes with new issues of what will be on free-to-air and what will be on pay tv.  I am glad to have read that I am not the only one that thinks Joanne Griggs is a waste of space and should not be presenting anything.

This has been the problem with their whole olympics coverage, repeating things and not showing enough variety. They pump in so many ads and the dreaded cross promotions of their rubbish shows, just like they did for the Australian Open.

This was a great evening: watching our DVDs of the gilmore girls and an earphone in one ear to follow the foreign live reports about what happens at the olympics.

It's amazing what happens if you listen to the radio, if you see channel 7 you wouldn't know.

Im soo glad that Channel 9 and Foxtel will be getting the next olympics. I feel a bit sorry for SBS though they have been doing a great job. As for channel 7......i think i rather watch channel 46. channel seven has screwed up everything cuz they know they aint broadcasting the olympics for a long time, i hope never.

That "insignificant" softball match was a medal match.

This "biggest match of the tournament" is only a quarterfinal

I am not a fan of C7s coverage, but I can see their reasoning there.

"Insignificant"softball match? Um, excuse me it was for a medal, and Ch 7 would not have expected it would have gone for 12 innings !The Australian softball tem deserve the same respect as other sports. You would like it if it got into extra time of basketball, and then ripped it off at the end !

I have no answer, other than to agree completely! We've been tormented now by seven's inane coverage for three olympics. Thank goodness for SBS, who atleast put together professional and exciting footage of the games. 6 hours of softball - a to be discontinued (insanely boring imho) game, prime time... Not to mention all the other excitement we've missed out on because of endless repeats... With so many events and so much action, you'd think they'd be able to put together a more up-to-date and relevant program.

I have watched a lot of Olympic & C/Wealth Games and I agree the Beijing bradcast by C7 is absolute c**p (Bruce Mc excluded - he is the best). Not just for the insane airing of the softball for so long but for a number of other issues. I am completely dumbfounded by Jo Griggs as a host in primetime - she is so pathetic it is laughable. I know C9 will do a sensational job next time round

CH7 are a disgrace, Basketball Australia should demand an official apology from them.

Try calling their switchboard although it is jammed with complaints.
