Considering he is a welterweight and has not fought any top guys this seems a bit odd!

  1. did you fall asleep through out last year he fought ricky hatton.

  2. mayweather cares too much about being undefeated..even though he is the best now. But he should realize JOe Calzaghe is also undefeated..undefeated record doesn't mean ur a great..just that you are good. that's why ppl may think mayweather isn't one of best ever

But mayweather is the best today at least. And he'll prove it vs cotto =]

  3. they too risky, these guys can actually hurt mayweather and floyd is not gonna risk his zero loses. his gonna make more money of oscar and after that if he dont fight any of the top welters then you know he really is ducking these guys. if he chooses to keep fighting. it will really not look good on him.

to british bad boy- did u fall asleep when collazo took hatton to school?hatton dont belong with welters

  4. Floyd's only real concern now is making money.  Up until now, none of the top welterweights represented a blockbuster payday.  That has changed though.  If Floyd beats De La Hoya for the 2nd time, I think we're guaranteed to see him fight the winner of Cotto v Margarito - especially if it's Cotto.

Cotto's fan base is increasing daily and the two undefeated records would surely mean a lot of PPV sales.

In Floyd's eye, most of the public already considers him "the best" so he doesn't feel like he needs to "prove" it by fighting fairly unknown fighters.  As flawed as that thinking is, that's the real answer to your question.

  5. cuz floyd is scared of them... he calles himself the best there is... but he wont fight with the best...

  6. Hatton, Judah, and Sharmba Mitchell (who was top-10 at the time) have all been beaten soundly by Floyd.

  7. Mayweather is mostly hype to me. Cotto, Calzaghe, Pacquiao, and Pavlik have all faced much tougher challengers in the past 2 yrs, and mayweather is considered the lb for lb king?? I think thats pretty stupid... just my opinion

Cotto - He has beaten Mosley, Judah, and Quintana... Among others... He has by far beaten better recent competition.

Calzaghe... Lacy, Kessler, Hopkins... all top ten at one point. Hopkins being a top lb for lb guy.

Pacquio... Barrera, Marquez (a top lb for lb fighter) and Morales. All top guys at one point.

Pavlik... Beat Zertuche, Miranda, and Taylor twice! a very impressive streak!

OK NOW Mayweather beat Hatton who is small and NEEDS to stay at 140 lbs!! at 147 lbs he would not even be ranked in the top 10!

He beat an Over the Hill De la Hoya... By fighting not to loose!

Shamba Mitchell... ok he was a decent fighter a while back, but when he beat him the guy had NOTHING LEFT! and it still took him 6 rounds to beat him... Tzyu took him out in 3.

Judah.. Ok he is good, but not great, and remember that Judah was outboxing him most of the fight. But the weak minded judah let Mayweather get to his head. Besides that judah lost the fight more than Mayweather won it. PLUS Tzyu took knocked him out! :P

Baldomir.. He is ok, but far from being in the same class as Margarito. Who by the way Mayweather avoided and ended up fighting the much weaker Baldomir who has even less exposure than Margarito!!

Gatti... was he ever good? seriously the guy just finished loosing to a guy from the contender!! A guy who made a name for himself throwing lucky punches is never good in my book.

  8. In Mayweather's eyes, those other top ten welterweights don't carry the value of making a big purse big. Mayweather is clearly looking to fight those who will definitely bring him lots of money. Though, coming from someone who claims is going down as the absolute best in the history of the sport, I do find it odd that he doesn't go ahead of show us how dominate he suppose to be over the likes of Cotto, Margarito, or Clottey just to name a few.

  9. Because his title and the sanctioning bodies are a complete joke- that's why.

  10. He beat Zab Judah who ring magazine has ranked at 6 in the welterweight division. He Knocked out Ricky Hatton the Ring Magazine and IBF Jr Welterweight champion and former WBO Welterweight champion. Even thought people think hatton was small Ricky is famous for blowing up in weight and actually is naturally bigger than Floyd although he fights at a smaller weight.
