  1. Because public servants actually run this country. If K.RUD as i lik eto call him doesn't bow to the public servants demands then all the info/services and all the other red tape/beuracratic stuff that this country relies to keep working(sort of) will just stop and everything thats been done just comes undone and then people will suffer K.RUDD will suffer because he won't be able to call Joe Blow (Head of Overseas Money Accounts) and ask Joe "How much money can we spend this week on Bombs/Guns/Planes etc etc. This is why K.RUDD just gives these bludgers $1400 a week extra. While us poor buggers get slugged 48cents in the dollar if we get asecond job just to try and make a couple of hundred $ a week extra to pay rent because we all know unless you earn $2000 a week take home you are never going to be able to buy a house or even a unit. It's wrong especially when you consider people who rent out a place usually live in another house that they already own. No wonder those public servants need that extra $1400 a week they have be able to own at least 3 houses . 2 houses is just never enough. Plus the missus probably just askes hubby for a new Porsche Cayenne Twin turbo to drive the kids to soccer. If you pay 1/3 of your take home pay to rent you'll know what i'm on about.

  2. Take note: not all Public Servants are getting this.  After 30+ years in the job I'm only on $58,000.  The average PS has to fight for a wage rise through various channels and is lucky to get 3% per year.  Much less than the CPI in most cases.

Don't label all Public Servants in the same way.  The big wigs in Canberra do so much better than your average one.
