Question:

Why has LP been eliminated?

My earlier VCRs had three speeds, EP, LP and SP. When I recorded a movies or recorded a sporting event to keep I'd record it on LP because it was better quality than EP but didn't use up as much tape and SP. Now the VCRs only have EP and SP. Why not LP? That was the one I used the most.

  1. LP died because it could not support HiFi audio tracks.  Also LP was not authorized by JVC, inventor of the VHS system, so most Asian manufacturers could not get license approval to make LP decks.
