  1. Because he doesn't care about America, he just wants to be President because he's a egomaniac.

  2. He wrote history making ethics reform last year after the Republican (forget the guy's name) that was messing around with the kiddie interns.  As far as I'm concerned that is the most important piece of legislation needed in Washington right now.

  3. He voted PRESENT. Doesn't that count?

  4. Actually he has been a U.S. Senator for almost 4 years.

    And he has wriitten legislation.

    These include:

the Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 - became law

The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act, - became law

The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, passed the Senate,

The 2007 Government Ethics Bill, - became law,

The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill

In all, since entering the U.S. Senate, Senator Obama has written 890 bills and co-sponsored another 1096.

An impressive record, for someone who supposedly has no record according to some.

Instead of believing everything Sarah Palin and the Republicans say you should do your own research.

  5. Holy...Is this John McCain.  Way to take a quote directly from the republican speeches.  Free your mind, try thinking for yourself.

  6. http://mediamatters.org/items/2008090400...

    Your "facts" are not facts.

  7. Legislation does not help people bow down to him, books do.

  8. Because he is an egomaniac, and he puts his name on other people's bills and claims credit!!!

  9. Oops!  You made the mistake of believing Rudy Giuliani!  Bzzt!  Truth is that he has worked on hundreds of pieces of legislation.  If you go back and listen carefully, you'll hear the weasel word "major."  Since Rudy alone gets to decide what "major" means, he can claim he didn't lie.  But he made a fool out of you!  Or maybe Rudy can't claim credit for that either...

Regarding the "present" votes: in Illinois it's a form of protest vote.  Hillary attacked him for it and you know the result.  Fact is Obama cast over 4000 votes in the Illinois legislature.  Many of his 130 "present" votes were on bills that had an overwhelming bipartisan majority, but Obama (who taught Constitutional Law for 12 years at the University of Chicago School of Law) had a legal or other objection to the form of the bill.  But don't take my word for it; read this analysis: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/20/us/pol...

    Here's the truth:

During the first - 8 - eight years of his elected service he sponsored over 820 bills. He introduced

    233 regarding healthcare reform,

125 on poverty and public assistance,

    112 crime fighting bills,

    97 economic bills,

60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills,

    21 ethics reform bills,

    15 gun control,

6 veterans affairs and many others.

In his first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427. These included

    1. Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 - became law,

    2. Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act, - became law,

    3. Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, passed the Senate,

    4. 2007 Government Ethics Bill, became law,

    5. Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill, In committee, and many more.

In all, since entering the State/U.S. Senate, Senator Obama has written 890 bills and co-sponsored another 1096.

Yeah, I know, now you're going to argue that writing lots of laws makes him some kind of problematic bureaucrat, but we never expected consistency from you!  BTW, can you tell us how many laws John McCain has written by himself?  Not co-sponsored but actually written himself?

  10. Uh- actually he has written pIEces of legislation.  He is one of the busiest most effective Senators.

At least we know he can write and spell correctly.

  11. Apparently he has his priorities screwed up.

  12. He also hasn't had time to pay back one red cent of his affirmative action scholarship money.

one would think he could've taken it out of his many millions he made in profit from his racist books.

  13. I think part of the issue is that he is a Jr. Senator, and the government is much like a corporation.  If he had written the legislation he would have had to have the backing of Sr. Senators, and it's an elitist group.  I've had many ideas at my job that were just ignored because I didn't have any stature in the company.

If he did write legislation, maybe no one listened to him, so you don't hear about it.

Now, I am not an Obama fan, but really, it's time to HIT the issues, and stop hitting the candidates.

  14. Obama is about Obama, at least that is my take, and I am still undecided as for whom I will vote.

However, I think the question should be reformed for accuracy.  With all due respect to Sen. Obama, he has written some stuff, and the question should really be:  Hasn't written one piece of "significant" legislation, which would be true, but not true that he has not written any legislation.
