  1. It probably has a nest somewhere nearby. We've got a beautiful family of red tail hawks and I saw the babies in the nest! So awesome.

  2. According to my Animal Omens book: Hawks are beautiful stately birds of prey. They move us on a deep primal level: the way they sail with their wings set against the pull of the wind, their characteristic call from far within the woods. Hawks are equipped to bring knowledge and insight to the earthly inhabitants. As visionaries from higher realms they teach us to observe what is going on around us that we might be missing, what piece of life's puzzle could help us see our way more clearly. Hawks may come to help you see where your center again. Stop and listen to that still soft voice from the Otherworly realm , he offers clues  on how to find life path with the vision of Hawk. Find your true self.  I didn't put everything that was written just the basic.  Be grateful that you were able to see one of natures creatures relax and enjoy. Maybe he is trying to give you this message.

  3. He's hungry and hunting for food. Remember we built over it's land so you can have your house there. Let the hawk be! !

  4. The Hawk lives naturally in your area. It lives in your neighborhood, it hunts and it's nesting likely in a tall tree in a secluded area. They cry (squawk) when they are communicating with each other. They don't "squawk" when hunting (that would give away their position).

If you own a small dog, it's a good idea not to leave it alone if you're worried...depending on what species of hawk you are seeing- select few species (Golden Eagles & Red Tailed Hawks) can prey on small dogs the size of a chiwhawa but it's very unlikely to happen, so don't worry too much ;)

However, hawks & eagles in general really aren't all that interested in eating a dog. Because birds of prey naturally don't want any human interaction- unless they are injured or their natural prey is extremely scarce. Hawks & eagles prefer hunting squirrels, fish, other birds & rabbits- dogs are at the botton, if at all on their menu.

  5. there is probably good Prey animal around. Could be a bird or birds at a nearby feeder is is hovering over. Who knows might even have young in area or a nest around there. Enjoy they are wonderful.

  6. Appreciate it, what if you never got to see that bird again?  With the way the climate is changing, be grateful to hear his cry.

  7. were do you live - they are protected..

It's the mating season, so give the guys a break, LOL

  8. maby he likes u,or your house, maybe he is lost or maybe tryin to find a mate, or has a nest to take care of!!!

  9. Could be a couple of things, It could be an adolescent hawk that has staked a claim in your area. It could be a male hawk calling for a mate or it could be a nesting hawk with a nest nearby, get your camera out and take some pictures of a truly magnificent bird.

  10. maybe you have a lot of small rodents such as field mice in your area?

  11. Maybe something died nearby

  12. it a good hunting ground?

  13. Why do you find a beautiful hawk in nature annoying?  It is NOT going to pick up your dog..hawks mostly feed on small rodents, and snakes and occasionally small squirrels or rabbits.   Hawks can only lift one half of their own weight.  Red-tailed Hawks (one of the larger hawks) weighs about 2lbs, so they can lift an animal that weighs 1lb or less.  Eagles can lift a bit more..up to about 5lbs.   If you seriously have a dog that weighs 1lb or less, you should not let it out unsupervised..not just because of bird predators, but because of ANY predator.

  14. Maybe her nest is near your house.

There are a bunch of hawks near my house, but that's because a neighbor down the street breeds them and releases them into the wild. One of the hawks around here decided to drop a half-eaten bloody squirrel onto me. Nasty. T_T
