Why do dudes in bottom mount never fade and sway on their lower back to avoid strikes against the opponent in mount?

  1. Maurice Smith used to just be awesome at doing just exactly that, he evaded punches on the ground the same as he did standing up. I always loved to see him do it. I guess the main reason that you don't see more of it is that, as you well know turning on your side even just a bit generally just encourages the JJ man to take your back. I definitely think it's a good idea, but as with most anything else you have to be careful in how much you use it or in how far you go with the movement to prevent offering your back up. I understand that you are just talking about slipping the upper body side to side to avoid the strikes as they are coming down, but that is pretty difficult with a man in high mount, although I think it would still work pretty well against someone in a lower mount position.
