Why has it gotten to the point to where so many people MUST be skinny, they have to be thin, they have the idea that being 90lbs is healthy?!

I weigh around 230-240lbs. I weigh this much due to my genes. My mom is a big woman and my dad made fun of big people (karma much XP) People see that being heavy is so evil, Why? I'm as healthy as an ox, can do twice the work of any skinny pissant and have more common sense than 80% of the people in my county. Can someone please just explain to me why it is bad to be big and to why it's so healthy and better to have a stomach that is thinner than a bath mat?

  1. wow i so know what your talking about! I weigh 175 because of genetics not because i eat too much. I am also healthy exept for running but hey the more u work at it the faster u get and i dont get worn out running up a flight of stairs i bike often and i sometimes bike up to 5-7 miles. I hate the guys who love to date girls that weigh 80-90 pounds, yea i would lov to be a little skinnier than i am but im not and guys wont date me because of it and it pisses me off. guys do check me out over the summer but not the guys in my skool which unfortunatly r the ones who count. All the girls want to be stick thin and there r girls born like that most of my friends are thin and yes they all have boy friends or have had boyfriends . Point is i like who i am and i cant change it  and its not bad to be big i just wish most guys and people saw it that way.

  2. One word.....Society.

  3. Obesity is a far bigger problem in the west than thin-obsession, and its related disorders have claimed far more lives than thin-obsession ever will.  Heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and many other disorders have been linked to higher body fat percentages.  Why?  Obese and overweight people tend to eat unhealthy food and don't exercise enough.  Genes do not make you fat--eating like c**p makes you fat.  Your genes may decide how quickly this happens, but barring severe and rare gland disorders, you quite literally CANNOT gain body fat without eating more calories than you burn.

It is not okay to be proud of preventable disorder and disease, no matter what it is.  If you are indeed overweight or obese (no way to tell without more information--you could be perfectly healthy for all I know), you SHOULD do something about it.  Self-improvement is a positive thing, not something to avoid until you can't avoid it any longer!

  4. being over weight or obese is a proven fact that you are at a higher risk for certain things. Diabetes...high blood pressure...high cholesterol..heart disease..etc....  I don't know why some ppl wanna weigh 90lbs 'cause being too skinny is unhealthy too. People need to weigh whatever their "ideal weight" is. Check with a doctor or nutritionist to find out. Just because you may feel healthy doesn't mean your not going to become unhealthy later in life due to your over weight. I'm sure you may be stronger physically then a skinnier person but I doubt you can work twice as long or hard. Over weight people get so winded and out of breath just walking up a flight of stairs. And it's not healthy to have a stomach thinner then a bath mat. Your being way to prejudice against skinny people. Listen being too skinny isn't healthy and being too big isn't healthy either. People always are at the extreme it seems like. Either someone is too skinny or too heavy and like I said people need to find their ideal weight and stick to it.

  5. i would love to be skinny. i'd love to be 90 pounds.

but it would be because i cant see myself as worthy of anything until i get there. i have to be thin. its my life. i always thought that fat people were mean because my dad is fat and hes abusive. im afraid to be fat. everyone has their own reasons so there is no one answer. just depends on who you ask.
