They had the knowledge to create it for over 20 years but use the excuse that it wouldnt sell to stop "research".

I know I would buy it in a second...

Anyways what do you think the real reason is?

  1. it's true that the pharmaceutical cos. only want to sell products that make money. sad but true.  patients with rare or low incidence disease suffer the most.

also, no offense to guys, but there would be some concerns that would have to be overcome-

1-will they remember to take the pill (or will it be an implant)

2-will they use it to control their girlfriend or wife

3-will they go to the doctor (for women, doctors are our 'gatekeepers'  - we cant get BC over the counter)

4-will they be willing to deal with the cost and the side effects (women have for decades)

one thing we wont have to worry about - insurance will cover it.  they got viagra covered when some women still couldnt get their BC covered.

oooh, another question ** Will pro-life drug stores sell men their BC???????  (they do sell viagra)

  2. I don't have any knowledge about the technology being available or not.  What I do know is, that, as a woman, I would not completely trust a man to prevent my pregnancy.  There are plenty of women who are careless about taking their BC pills, which makes them less effective or even useless, and it's just human nature to assume that some men would be the same way.  After all, it's not the man who has to bear the physical consequences of an unintended pregnancy, so he doesn't have as much of an interest in making sure it's not going to happen.  I'm only speaking about single people, though, a married man might very well be more responsible with it.  My belief on it is, if you are the person who absolutely does not want a baby, then it is your responsibility to do whatever it takes to make sure it doesn't happen.  And I'm not going to depend on someone else to provide that assurance for me.

  3. I don't know what the real reason is but I want to express my opinion anyway. I think the male birth control pill is a terrible idea to promote.

Here's my reasoning- I think with teenagers especially they fear pregnancy and not so much STD's is what they use condoms for, and i think they would jump all over taking this pill and having s*x which would in turn lead to a massive rise in STD's. A study was completed earlier this year that showed that 1 in 4 teenage girls in america have an std (HPV being most prevalent) and this would surely rise if condom use dips. HPV doesn't usually affect mens health adversely but can lead to cervical cancer in women.

I don't have a link to the study but you can do a google search and find it easy enought

  4. I think you've hit it.  Stupid people thinking it wouldn't sell.

  5. They have to test these products extensively to make sure they are safe for use. If they release the products, and ten years later, find out that there are adverse effects, consumers will open lawsuits.

There IS  a market for men birth control pills. Don't undermine men.

Check out this article on the status of male birth control pills:

  6. It has not yet been proven to be safe enough for sale.

And the male birth control pill may be a trigger for certain minds on the brink of willingness to commit rape.

  7. One of the side effects is decreased libido.

    It really wouldn't sell.

Secondarily, it would decrease condom usage, which would lead to higher incidence of STDs, as someone already stated.
