Why has my Windows Media Player stopped working?

I have Windows Vista Premium about a year old and back in January Windows Media Player just stopped working. Whenever I try to click on it nothing happens. Also My gadgets on the sidebar stopped working correctly as well (the URL Below contains the picture). Also when I try to play Music or Video in Windows Media Center it says a component is missing. What is Going On?

  1.   This fix is for Windows Vista.  I am running 32-bit Vista.

    I found a solution!!!!

    This was my problem:

I click on WMP icon and nothing appears no matter how many times I clicked it.  Task manager does not show any signs of WMP running.  I tried to re-install it, but WMP wouldn't let me because the install was an older version of WMP.  So after a few days of searching the net, I finally came across a fix that actually worked out for me.

    Fix:

    1.  Click on Start (Orb), then All Programs, then Accessories.

    2.  Right-click on Command Prompt.  Run as Administrator.  Click continue or enter password.

    3.  Type the following:

    regsvr32 jscript.dll

Press enter, then click ok.  Then type the following:

    regsvr32 vbscript.dll

         Press enter, then click ok.

    4.  Type exit, then press enter.

    5.  Start WMP.

    6.  Done!

    Hope this helps.
