She's always been a lovable cat especially towards me up until yesterday. I was kitten sitting for a few minutes and decided to see how my cat would handle another cat around her...she started hissing at it and I took it outside. Since then she still keeps hissing at me, I don't know what to do or why she's still doing it or if she'll ever stop.....please help, I love her so much and don't want to have to get rid of her.

  1. she will come around soon, don't worry.

many adult cats, especially females, do not like little kittens. she smells the kitten on you and is a bit angry. she will get over it when you are done kitten sitting

  2. I agree with your other answers. It's an emotional issue with your kitty. She feels threatened and doesn't know how to deal with the situation. She will stop eventually but, for now just leave her be.

  3. shes just jealous. shes your baby and that how she likes it. but she will get over it. just give her lots of baby talk and food!! lol that works for me.

  4. the cure is LOVE, show her as much love as you can and she will forgive you.

  5. she's an adult female... and you invaded HER territory with a kitten she is ANGRY!!!!

  6. There's no reason to get rid of her.  It sounds like she got jealous, felt like a kitten was taking over her territory and your attention.

Is the kitten still in the house?  Could she still be smelling the kitten?

UPDATE :: wait, the kitten is actually outside, not just outside the room your cat is in?  that's not safe for him/her.  when you are done taking care of the kitten, things should get back to normal.  just be sure to give your cat attention and to always wash your hands after handling the kitten.

2nd UPDATE :: hissing often means, "back off" - so just leave a few of her favorite treats near her and sit nearby and read or do something quiet.  If she doesn't like treats or have a favorite toy, just hang out nearby quietly and wait for her to initiate.  good luck!
