  1. manpower cutbacks meaning the post office have rearranged the postal rounds

  2. because they are slow my post comes anytime between 1pm and 3pm

  3. Despite the huge increases in postage costs you only get one delivery a day and that is when it suits them and not you.

Try running a business with this system.

    It is a nightmare.

  4. Same here mate.

We used to get deliveries at 8am and 11am on the dot

Now it's one delivery between 12 and 2

    Shocking state of affairs

  5. In order to save money Royal Mail decided they would make their posties start later - this means that the mail is delivered to the sorting offices later, sorted by the posties later and, subsequently, delivered to you later.

For some reason, with the kind of competition they are up against these days, Royal Mail think shooting themselves in both feet like this is a good idea.

  6. Could be your neighbor lady has left the curtains open.

  7. He is trying to avoid you.

  8. Its all down to trousers. A policeman had to look at a postmans trousers and then they sent him home with no pay. The postman that is.

So that made his morning round late.......

    lol

We used to get our post at 7am in the olden days

    .

  9. I'm not sure only I thought it strange when my post was delivered on Monday at 6.30 in the evening, maybe there has been some changes that we don't know about.

  10. I used to get mine on a morning about 9 but now its about 11 I have a different postie though and he says they've changed our rounds I am in Stanley by the way

  11. Because the management changed the working conditions recently requiring posties to, in effect, work the hours it says in their contract, in the places it says in their contract and not get out of the depot early and get their rounds finished early.  If they do happen to finish early, they still have to work their contracted hours.

My postie used to get here mid-morning, finish his round by noon and then do extra work as overtime, even though it was within his normal working hours.  (I've no idea how the custom and practice arose but it sounds quite lucrative to me!) Now he does not get overtime for working within his normal hours and is required to be in the sorting office until around mid morning.  My post now arrives in the afternoon.

There was a postal strike a short while back in protest at this and other changes to the work at the post office.  My postie (he's a great bloke by the way) is still upset at the management attitude but I have to admit it doesn't sound too unfair to me from my limited perspective.

  12. Fish.

  13. usually they will do that when there is a change in their route. Maybe before he would start with your street and now he finished with it.

  14. They may have changed the route and yours could be at the end of a new route.

  15. He likes a lie-in.
