  1. The England selectors are way too reflexive. Even Australian selectors, for all their reputation as being tough guys who hold players to high standards, seem to have a forgiving streak. In England, one bad series or injury, and a player could disappear off the scene forever! Look at Simon Jones or Hoggard! Great, fit bowlers, but they have not played in two years! The consistency of selection in the Subcontinent, and the gentler streak of the Australian selectors, has insured that their players will always rack up more matches than Englishmen.

  2. in england cricket is national sport

  3. This is an excellent question that is worth researching on. While a player like Alec Stewart played less than 200 ODIs, in India a not so brilliant player like Yuvraj Singh played over 200 ODIs. Why the English players are not being picked up instead of good performances for their team needs investigation so that in future, good players are preserved.

In my humble opinion, player selection is a problem here. There is a lot of cricket going on in England and there are plenty of players to choose from. English selectors keep on experimenting with new players, lest they may bring the world cup to England ! They dump good players and select wrong ones. Perennial experimentation is going on in England. I can think of many good players not playing enough like David V Lawrence, Kenneth Shuttleworth, Norman Gifford, Adrian P Grayson, Geoffrey A Cope, Nicholas G B Cook, Alex Jeremy Tudor, Jonathan P Agnew, Frederick J Titmus, Raymod Illingworth, Patrick I Pocock, Robert J Bailey, Kim J Barnett, Brian C Rose, Wilfred N Slack, Alan P Wells, Clive T Radley, Mark R Benson, John J Whitaker, Colin M Wells, Alan R Butcher, etc.

  4. India and SL play a lot more cricket than England. This would be due to their geographical location being so closem to each other (including Pakistan). Travelling is not a problem due to the closeness to each other.

  5. well,  the selectors believe that its better to switch around players and test how different players from county cricket can do in the national team. But i'm sure that in the future, players like KP, flintoff, Collingwood, bell, maybe Cook are going to pass the 200 mark, but anyways.

  6. Frankly ,..They were not good enough to carry on like Sub Continent cricketers ,.. that's why England did not win single world cup,.=NO experience

    lol~

  7. 2 reasons, for one, as has already been stated, England's selectors are to quick to change they're side, 2 bad gams in a row and your gone, secondly, i think if you look at the amount of games played over the last 10 years, you will probably find that England play less ODI's than most other countries, so when you put the 2 of them together, it makes it very hard to play 300+ games

well done, finally a good cricket question in the cricket section!
