  1. For the same reason Enron became defective.

  2. The government ( all branches, from local to the high end) DOES  listen to the people...The problem is not enough people want to be heard...We complain, moan and groan but that's as far as it goes...For example if WE, were to swarm a congressman's/ Senator's office with calls, letters and emails demanding they vote on a certain issue the way WE want them to or next election we would toss their butt out of office...well, they would get so rattled with the thought of losing their position of power they would listen to the people...We, the people have more power than most realize...we simply just don't use it.

  3. It's like anything else.  If you don't do routine maintenance and repairs it will fall to disarray.

  4. Because it has become, and continues to become, a nanny state thanks to ridiculous liberal policies.

  5. First of all, the US does listen to people.  It's the other countries that don't.

You get that idea due to the fact that there is no more USSR anymore and some of you fear that the US wants to conquer the world.  Your hatred (even though you did not say you hate the US, you imply that you do) for the US is based on fear.  The fears have made some European governments become more socialized.  The real reason why the European Union was established was to protect Europe from the US.

  6. It started in ernest in the 60's but some think it goes back as far as Franklin Roosevelt's Social programs.
