Why has the dem congress said they will not support offshore drilling until gas reaches ten dollars a gallon?

First, they haven't said that.  Second, even if the currently-restricted offshore areas were opened to drilling, it would make no difference at all in the price of gasoline in the short term, and little, if any, in the long term.  There simply isn't enough oil in all of those areas combined to make much difference compared with global oil output.  This isn't simply my opinion, but that of industry and government analysts.

Look, I work for a major oil company, the one that just posted nearly twelve billion dollars in profit -- not income, profit -- last quarter.  There certainly is enough oil in those areas for my company to make money pumping it out of the ground.  So by all means, let's drill offshore.  Hey, I plan to retire in a few years, so the better my company does, the better it will be for me.  But, unless you're invested in oil companies, drilling offshore ain't gonna make any difference to you.

I haven't heard about that, but I know that Ms. Rice Secretary of State doesn't want anything brought before her that has something to do with drilling for oil. the Dem. wanted to get a bill passed on the subject before they went on vacation but she refused to let it be brought before her.  I'm sure you know if you watch the news that there is about 20 democrates still working to get something passed while the rest of them are on vacation.

Because at $10 a gallon it starts to affect their pockets.  Are you familiar with term, do nothing congress?  It seems dems are good at nothing after all.

Most mainstream Dems would likely support it now, but the enviromentalist movement is basically a neo-luddite movement which sees technology as an impediment to its long term goals.
