  1. first, i don't consider wattsupwiththat reliable science.

    that said, maybe projects like:

    - building levies around the mississippi and other rivers,

    - having building codes,

    - being more careful about building near ocean beaches,

    etc, would be part of the reason.


  2. More early warnings and better construction methods.  However if I lived near any weather siren I would shoot holes in it.

  3. As per darwins theory of acclimatising to the change in environment , Man has gradually become resistant to the extreme weather .,

  4. Better weather alert systems.

  5. Probably because countries are becoming better prepared for them and developing better warning systems.

    A better indicator of climate change - number of reported extreme weather events per year - has increased sharply.
