  1. A number of reasons can be given for the growth in such claims of clinical negligence. Certainly there has been a profound change in the relationship between the professional and his/her client, particularly so within the clinical sphere. Whereas there was once an automatic deference and acceptance by clients, often there is now open scepticism and a willingness to challenge the authority of such professionals. Much of this ethos has come from America.

  2. no idea on the stats, but i'd hazard a guess if they have that its dues to wating times, targets, profits, trying to get in too many patients in a day, etc..

i dont honestly think that it has though.. i think people are less trusting of doctors now and more money orientated (sueing culture) where in the past someone would have said, oh dear they tried their best, now people want  blame allocated, also with resources like the internet and general higher level of education amongst the population, people dont look at doctors as highly, may be more inclined to get a second opinion/have enough knowledge to know something went wrong when perhaps they didnt before.

DOctors may be following the generall population trend of not caring about other people somuch.. previously a Doctor would see loacl people that they knew, they cared a lot more for them. now in massive clinics the whole system is less personable. not to mention the lack of respect for the medical profession in turn getting doctors backs up.

  3. It's more a growth in medical malpractice suits by those willing to take advantage of the court's bias for patients and the proliferation of lawyers.

  4. On average poor therapy choices make them more money than proper care.

  5. Medical negligence, is as frequent as ever.

    Doctors can commit mistakes occasionally.

However, as you have read above, its the proliferation of people trying to get a profit besides medical care, the factor that creates that apparent RISE in medical negligence.False

What has increased is the number of people (and assidsting  money seeking lawyers) that bring upon any circumstance to the law, that THEY consider medical negligence.

In texas, to take an example, only 7.4 % of all legal complaints, resulted in a sentence in favor of the plaintiff...

As you see, the number of legal actions against medical doctors has increased, not the negligence PER SE.

  6. Doctors are human always have been, the increase is not in negligence but the increase is the number of lazy people that what to broaden the definition so they can make money without working.  Lawyers have increased, not mistakes.  Re-analyze your stats.

  7. More lawyers. An intense educational campaign over many years that anything short of perfection must be due to negligence. Greed. More patients. Less time. Take your choice. Mine would be the overabundance of Attorneys.
