  1. mainly due to the housing crisis - few homes being built, so less need for workers; fewer materials purchased, so fewer store employees needed.


  2. Mainly the subprime crisis.  The last unemployment report showed that it had jumped by half a percent...but that was mainly due to high school and college kids looking for summer jobs...so we still have a long ways to go until we have the unemployment that we had back in 87.

  3. cuz the government has said that companies can go over seas. rising gas prices means a decline in people buying things cuz shipping prices go higher. more people coming to america for the employment resulting in an increase in people needing jobs and no increase in jobs created. people needing more money to survive, so less money is spent on luxury items, for example, the general motors plants closing.
