  1. Great Britain doesn't include Ireland for the same reason it doesn't include France, or Belgium etc. Great Britain is just Great Britain and the island of Ireland is separate.

...and sarch-uk ...Northern Ireland IS NOT a province. Ulster (9 counties) is a province of Ireland, same as Leinster, Munster and Connaught. Northern Ireland (6 counties)  is a country.

  2. The UK does not have two names.  The United Kingdom is the island that is Great Britain (Britain) plus the province of Northern Ireland.

The island of Great Britain is home to England, Wales and Scotland.

  3. it really is not that complicated .... the system in USA is not that different ... there you would live in a county, which is part of a state, which is part of the United States

here I live in England, which is part of Great Britain, which is part of the United Kingdom

Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are the other parts of the UK

  4. Great Britain is a geographical term and is the name of the island that includes England, Scotland, and Wales. It's called Great Britain because it is the largest island of the British Isles (the second largest is the island of Ireland).

The United Kingdom is a political term, not geographical, and it is the name of the country that is a union of the four constituent countries England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Its full title is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, since Great Britain (as defined above) does not include Northern Ireland.

  5. Great Britain: England, Scotland and Wales

United Kingdom: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland

  6. Great Britan does not include Northen ireland

  7. one has northern ireland

  8. i always just thought it was because we deserved it.

like, the queen gets two birthdays, you know, for being nice or something.

  9. cause their country is small and tiny, so they wanna make up for it by having two names

  10. Great Britain is just the Island containing England, Scotland and Wales

The UK is Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) plus Northern Ireland

    The UK's full name is:

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

    Edit:

Great Britain does not include Northern ireland, becuase Great Britain is an Island ... Northern Ireland is not on that Island, it is on a different Island, called Ireland

  11. Maybe for the same reason the U.S can be called the United States, the U.S, the United states of America or just America. or U.S.A
