  1. he seems to be used as a stepping stone in feuds for midcarders heading up to main event status, but with his new psychotic persona, he mite be up for a last world title push before he retires tho

  2. The people above me have made a valid point to some extent, but Kane hasn't wanted to be a stepping stone for the past decade.  This point of view is a fairly new one.  Let's say, for the sake of argument, Kane started caring about the young up and comers around...2004.  I'm not saying he didn't care about the direction of the industry up until then, I just think he was still relishing in his stardom up until then, and enjoying his prime.

Now, with this analysis, it means that Kane didn't have the title for six years that he could have wanted  a run with the strap.  My rationale about characters like Kane, Foley, and the Undertaker is that they don't need titles.  They look intimidating and powerful enough without having to hold the gold, and when you put the gold on them, they usually have fairly long reigns, that is, unless someone believeable enough takes the strap off of them.  This kind of reputation has made Kane a perfect candidate for being a main event jobber, because no matter how many times you beat him, he still maintains some kind of credibility because of his past reign as a monster.  In Mick's case, you have a hardcore icon whose always going to look as tough as nails, and it's always going to take a lot to put him down.  The benefit of guys like this is that the person who finally does take them down will look like they've accomplished the impossible.  Meanwhile, the Undertakers and the Kanes and the Mick Foleys of the world will still seem like this danger that only lost because they're capable of pushing their opponent to a new plane of survival.

The Edge/Undertaker match is a great example of this.  Building Edge up, they fed him Mick Foley to solidify that Edge is willing to go that self-destructive root that it takes to beat someone like the Undertaker.

I think Kane realizes that this is how he's booked, and I think he's always been fine with not being in the title picture.  What I don't buy though is that anyone can be completely in it for the business for their whole career, much less 10 years of a very active career.

  3. He doesn't want to be push and wants young or debuting stars to have the top and wants to work with them.Like he feud with hardy that made hardy have a good storyline and also give him some momentum or on edge when he was still a mid carder.

  4. Kane likes to put the younger stars over. He doesn't really want another title reign, and if he did he could probably get one.

  5. What the 2 guys above me said, He feels like he's had his time and that its time to make the younger guys look good. Funny that, considering he wins the majority of his matches..I think he should just put his mask back on, its what everybody wants..

  6. All valid points. At the end of the day, a title, no matter what kind, is a tool to get a wrestler over more with the audience and establish them as a name. It's interesting how some wrestlers in the modern era seem to crave the main belt and lobby for themselves to get it. Triple H is one of these, as is Batista, I would imagine. The on-screen desire for it is absolutely necessary to make sure the belt is prized in the minds of the audience, but backstage bitchiness over which of the main event guys has or should get it seems a little silly when it's amongst wrestlers who are incredibly popular already.

Many wrestlers never needed the biggest titles to get them over, examples would be Ted Dibiase Sr, Jake Roberts, Roddy Piper etc. Now, whilst those guys would have loved to have received the title, WWF (at the time) knew it was not really the way to (financially) better business by putting the main strap on them. The big money was created by keeping the belt on Hogan and having the monster heels be his foil to generate huge paydays for all concerned.

Kane is an example of a guy who is perpetually over with the crowd and he doesn't need the title put on him to enhance him further. It probably wouldn't alter his gimmick much, nor the reactions he receives. That's not to say he doesn't deserve it, and I could see him getting it at Unforgiven to add impetus to his forthcoming feud with Rey.

I'm therefore all for getting the belts on the younger, newer guys like CM Punk, Rhodes/Dibiase, Santino, Phoenix, Benjamin, Hawkins & Ryder.
