It's not likely he'll ever play football again, given the unfortunate injury he suffered last season. So why doesn't he just go ahead and retire?

  1. Why would u even ask something like this?? U don't know his condition at this time. Let him keep his dream alive

  2. he's not even on the team.

  3. It could be a goal that he's set for himself in order to remain optimistic in his continuing efforts to rehabilitate himself.  While it might be more realistic to retire, a lot of rehabilitation is mental.  It might be his way of remaining positive, by keeping his dream alive.

If you had been working toward one goal your entire life, with little other prospects, to have that taken away from you in an instant can be debilitating and depressing.  It would be easy for him to give up, and just resign himself to depression and paralysis, but considering how far he has already come, considering his early prognosis by doctors, I don't think that it is entirely impossible for him to keep that dream for himself and keep fighting for something that he truly loves in his life.

  4. because he is a fighter and will never quit
