Fighting in Georgia worsens - seems USA only believe in getting involved before fighting starts (to protect the people - don't make me laugh!) and only if they are a threat to USA (to protect the people - don't make me laugh!) and prefably a country that has something they need.

  1. Georgia has oil pipelines which go to Turkey and from there to Europe

  2. They don't mess with Russian inperialism so that they don't mess with theirs. They have split the world since WW2.

As for people who are so "smart" as to call others retards, why DID you go to Vietnam? Do you really know? Wasn't that the worst fiasco ever, according to Americans themselves (protests, films, etc.)?

  3. USA only gets involved if the country has something it needs? Really? What did Somalia have that the US wanted then? What about Bosnia?

USA only gets involved before the fighting starts? Really? Remember World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam? All of those wars had been going on long before the U.S. got involved. By the way, none of the nations we fought against had any resources we needed either.

Why doesn't the US get involved in Georgia? Simple really. Russia may not have quite the resources it did back when it was part of the Soviet Union, but it is still a very significant military power. It would not be wise for the United States to fight Soviet troops directly anywhere in the world if at all possible. Besides, the U.S. is involved diplomatically, which often brings far better results that military intervention.

  4. Actually, the USA is VERY involved:

  5. Please mr Bush lets have another of your crazy wars, then I will have to push my suv

  6. I am sure you already know the answer to this...but the reason the US has been so friendly with Georgia is because they want to adjoin it to NATO so it can then use it for building a pipeline to the Black Sea.  This would bypass both Turkey and Russia.  It could also eventually be a jumping point for more profitable adventures in the Caspian Sea.

The reason the US has not joined the fighting is because it never intended to.  It was probably hoping to buy time until Georgia entered NATO and then make it much more dangerous for Russia to intervene like it did.  The Georgian president either jumped the gun and tried a power play without American approval or the American administration has another toy up its sleeve in pushing the Georgians to launch an attack that was clearly suicidal at this point.

The US is very interested in what is happening but what can it really do?  Even if Moscow marched on Tiblisi, the US has no leverage.  Furthermore, the US is being lobbied by Israel to pursue Iran, if we put to much pressure on Russia in the Caucusus now, then Russia will arm the Iranians with even more weapons (including finishing the deal for the s300 anti-air missiles it already has planned).  The US has too many commitments that it cannot keep....

You are absolutely right that the US only fights to get something out of it, but in this case, the greed of the oil elites is in competition with the Israeli lobby.  You can tell who is going to win this round...

  7. Maya:  Ya ever get tired of trolling in any thread which makes the slightest mention of the US?  You may be a "Top Contributor" but that doesn't mean that your "answers" aren't simplistic, uninformed and generally idiotic.

  8. Russia has taken advantage of the fact that the US has committed itself to so many wars and spread itself so thinly that it simply lacks the resources to respond!!

Since George W Bush proclaimed he was doing his god given duty by going to war in all these countries why are you surprised to see the red devil becoming more powerful?!!!

  9. you bet ye.

  10. They dare not go up against Russia. There is oil involved.
