I mean there are plenty of people with great fighting and acrobatic ability, isnt there at least one of those people eccentric enough to have tried it?

I suppose money is a something to take into account but still....

  1. I'd help fund them; any volunteers?

  2. Yes, you are right, money is an issue these days. I often asked myself this question, and I finally figured it out: it is the self-preservation instinct of the human race. No one is so generous and kind to have a "superhero job", and to save people everyday because nowadays people don't care about each other. If someone is dying on the street, I guarantee that most of the people will just walk by him because they don't care. It is a very cruel reality, but, what can we do?

We can just try to make ourselves better, for the best of the humanity.

    Cheers!

  3. I suspect that many have, who else do you see being scraped of the Pavement/Sidewalk leaving some Red and Blue Lycra?

  4. Yeah money definately has something to do with it.  But I think Nintendouche's point is more valid...it's illegal so anyone trying to be a superhero and help the world would just be locked up for their trouble!

  5. I read of a guy who rolled himself in radioactive chemicals...instead of gaining superpowers and saving the world, he just got cancer and died....or maybe that was Family Guy.

  6. There are!

There are quite a few people, mostly in the US, who dress up and patrol the streets.  Some are even validated by the local law enforcement.  They have even made a documentary about them.

I first came across them by accident and then used the idea for a project during my degree - producing a book about them

  7. I would, but I don't have the correct spandex y-fronts

  8. There are and have been individuals who wear costumes and try to make the world a better place. Here are three examples:

Captain Sticky. The good Captain didn't try to protect his real identity, although I cannot remember his real name. Captain Sticky operated in Southern California and was an ACLU lawyer; he would make appearances as Captain Sticky for causes like voter registration, blood drives, free medical clinics, Red Cross drives, the March of Dimes, and other humanitarian causes. He drove a customized vehicle known as "the sticky-mobile" and carried a weapon of sorts; he had developed a pneumatic gun that could fire a pressurized stream of peanut butter and jelly up to thirty feet. He died of some form of cancer during the 70s and he was buried in his costume.

The Road Ranger. I cannot remember where the Road Ranger operates, but I have seen him on television news programs twice. He dresses like the television version of the Lone Ranger but wears sunglasses instead of a mask. The Road Ranger drives a tow truck instead of riding a horse, and he comes to the rescue of drivers who have automobile trouble on the freeways of the city where he lives. Carrying a great number of spare parts and tools in his vehicle, which has been adapted to also serve as a tow truck, the Road Ranger replace fanbelts, patches flat tires, and fixes other simple mechical problems for free, and sometimes tows cars to garages. He has called ambulances to help injured drivers, he has delivered at least one baby and he has spotted and reported a number of stolen vehicles.

Super Barrio. In Mexico, mascadores (masked wrestlers) are very popular and Mexico City has a political advocate who dresses like a masked wrestler and wages very public battles with slum lords, corrupt police officials, and politicians. He has managed to use publicity to force some social reforms and a person or persons unknown once tried to shoot him during a demonstration he was leading. I haven't seen or read anything about Super Barrio since the early ninties, so I'm not sure he is still active.

  9. No but I have gone to great lengths to try to be a super villain but no one takes me seriously.

  10. because being a vigilante is illegal

  11. They would be totally insane to become a superhero. I mean, think about it. When a guy tried to climb the Empire State Building, he was arrested. When a guy walked on a tightrope between the Twin Towers, he was sent to court. And, even in the cartoons, superheros never do a perfect job. Often, when, they try saving a person's life, they end up blowing something else with it, leaving the person financially distressed. So there's a possibility for lawsuit....

  12. Very good question and I cant answer it. But what is sarge h on about. Is your question racist and I dont understand?

  13. The only Superheros we have are fighting the war in Afghanistan and Police,E.M.C's And Firemen. You must live in a comic book fantasy land thinking we have real people dressing up like Batman,Superman,Spider-man,Iron-man And ext.No one like that exists here so stop writing stupid c**p like this.

  14. because nobody is super enough to take care of this mess
