Why hasn't my beagle had her heat in a while?

she hasn't bled in about 2 years! I don't think she is fixed, either! Don't tell me to "get her spayed". I know the pros and cons of each, and I'm not going to breed her anyway! I can keep her away from other dogs just fine!

  1. I like your last sentence!  Finally someone who takes responsibility for the dog.  Can you tell I do not believe in "accidental" breeding. If people would be responsible, we would not need all the spay/neuter hype.

Now to your question. Females are all different. Some are like fine swiss clocks, coming in every six months.  Many come in every 9 months, and a few once a year.  Some also have what we call "silent seasons" of short duration and without much outward signs at all.  As long as you are watching to make sure she does not get bred, you shouldn't have a problem.

The only way you can know for sure if she has been spayed is to consult a Vet, they should be able to answer that question.
