Is this really just a great big coincidence? That the deranged man just happened to kill, out of all the foreigners, let alone people, the father of the coach of the mens volleyball team? In an area that was supposed to be crawling with security? (it was a tourist spot, am I correct?)

It appears there was no link to the Olympics or to them being American.  Just a horrific random act by a deranged man.

You do know it is the same regime that openly massacred it's people and brutally suppresses any dissent. You remember Tibet.

It's tragic nonetheless but what does China got to do with it, the killer committed suicide, we don't even no of the motive, guy was probably a psycho.

vg39, please stop answering questions.  You're very ignorant.  America doesn't pick where the olympics will take place.  The International Olympic Commitee does.  This was an isolated incident.  Crime happens everywhere.

because this is china's welcome mat to the world and china wants to seem like this is a purely incidental isolated event and had no coincidence whatsoever with the olympics being held there. i think the opening ceremony was really cool, because no one has technology or cooperation like the chinese, BUT americans or whoever decides where the olympics are going to be held should have known better than to let china be the host after all the recent trouble we've had with them. i wanted to believe that the chinese would put their dislike for us beside for this great moment, but you can't always have want you want.

China has a lower murder rate than America.

But I know how you feel I get pissed when British people are killed in America (which happens a few times a year) or when British soldiers are killed in friendly fire in Iraq…

This attack was by a deranged person. It could happen anywhere. Sad that it happened at all.But the Chinese would be equally upset about it.
