The MDA yearly telethon raises probably 20 million $ or more a year i think..dont quote me but im just taking a shot in the dark. Now that has been going on for like 50 years already so do the math.

Why isnt there a cure yet?where is the money going and what is Jerry lewis doing?

  1. Name for me one disease that Western medicine cured.

They just cure the Symptoms rather than the disease.

They do not want people healthy because they want money. were in capitalist country, that's all they want is money.

  2. no kidding,go figure

  3. He has raised about 2 billion dollars during the run of the telethons. This years was the 43rd annual. Despite the telethons though, the MDA has been an organization since only 1950. They didn't really know anything about the disease before then. 50 years is not a long time to find a cure. There is a lot of research, time, devotion that goes into finding a cure, but before you can find a cure, you need to find a cause. Not only that, things cost money. I had to go to the emergency room once, got put in a neck brace and was charged $400 just to USE the neck brace. It takes a lot of money do the medical research and get the equipment needed, but it's not all going into research. It's going into office visits for the MD patients, support groups to help people deal. It's going into summer camps so that kids, who have to suffer with this disease, can get together, forget about their limits and be a kid for once. Just take a look at this link, it shows you the cost of some things.

If you think about it, research takes time and this complicated research. And it's not only about doing the research, but it's finding the funds to do it, while still being able to provide medical care and equipment, support and summer camps to all those affected by the disease. But because of all that Jerry and everyone involved is doing, they are so close to finding a cure to at least one of the 40 different types of Muscular Dystrophy.
