  1. The eco terrorist have convinced the Democrats that they will not support them in any election so they refuse to build new ones.

  2. Democrat enviromental politicians.

  3. Too many lawsuits if you did the owner would most likey wind up in federal prison!

  4. the democrats love to exercise their ignorance

    on a regular basis

    anti business

meanwhile they fly all over the usa in private jets on the tax payers dime

  5. Because our goverment enjoys being put over a barrel by opec

  6. for the same reason that the big oil companies wont drill on all the federal land they leased.

there is no need to, and they choose not to

  7. If there are fewer refineries then the price of gas stays higher and the oil companies make more money.  Plus they got those huge tax breaks to help them build more and no one has actually made them build them yet but they still get the tax breaks.

  8. Because the Democrats, left wing liberals and environmentalists stopped any refineries and drilling offshore of the U.S.

  9. lots of reasons

    too many hoops

NIMBY principle (not in my back yard)

right now its no cost effective - oil companies lose money on refining

  10. because saving the polar bears is more important than lower gas prices.

    (sarcasm btw)

  11. The "NOT in my Backyard" mentality.

There have been a few refinery projects that has passed all of the environmental hurdles and have been given the okay by the Feds.

But that doesn't mean people have to let them move into their towns.

Every single refinery that has been given the okay in the last 30 years has been stopped by the locals !

If you started a petition to get one built near you

your neighbors would be out in front of your house with pitch-forks and torches.

  12. because they're already dumping millions upon millions to upkeep the ones we already have!

i work for an electrical construction company that does work at marathon, shell and BP and we're always in there. it's millions to keep the ones they have going, it would be billions to build more
