Why have I never seen an Indian in the armed forces?

I have recently been through BCT, AIT and AT in the NYARNG. No Indians.

Yes they are a small minority percentage wise, but really not one especially being exposed to many other companies at AT in NY.

  1. Remember those Navajo Indians who drove the Japanese "nuts" when they were assigned as radio operators in the U.S.M.C. during the Pacific phase of World War II?  Those codes were never broken by the Japanese military.

    There was a movie made about those "code talkers."  Nicholas Cage was in it and it was entitled, "Wind Talkers."

  3. I believe it has something to do with their common Religion, and the US Military Regs on Uniforms, as well as the belief system itself.

  4. because they wear the same khaki uniforms, indians no longer wear headresses and war paint so they look like every other american.

  6. We had one, actually from a reservation in Arizona, when I was at Infantry OSUT.

  7. There are Indians in the military.  you act as if you have cruised every instillation, every FOB, everywhere.  Just because you havent' seen them, doesn't mean they don't exist.

  8. I was stationed with one while I was in. My NCO called him dot and me feather because I'm native american indian. There were a few on my base but not many.  

  9. Indians are experts at camouflage.
