  1. Calling the IRS is the answer. Try calling 800-829-0582 X 462.  You should be able to get a hold of an IRS rep in a lot less time than the main line that everybody gives out.   Another IRS number to try:  the IRS  rebate hot-line.  You will need to have information from your return of last year...so have the forms ready. Number is 1-866-234-2942

If 28 days have passed after the IRS says it mailed a refund check, “Where’s My Refund?” enables taxpayers to initiate a trace. The refund trace and address

change features are only available in English at this time.

Some scam artists are sending phony emails, including those relating to “Where’s My Refund?”, to trick individuals into revealing personal financial information that can be used to access their financial accounts. People who want to access the genuine IRS Web site and the “Where’s My Refund?” feature should go directly to the IRS Web site by typing the address, www.irs.gov, into the address` line of their Internet window. The only genuine IRS Web site is IRS.gov/.

Then are some problems with Turbotax. One or more of these may explain why you have not received your economic stimulus check as of yet.

    - There is a bug in the turbo-tax software.  If you have a health savings account {HSA}, you need to call the IRS.  If you had a health

savings account, or, in a few cases, an IRA, the Intuit software added to your income tax liability.  Therefore, the IRS shows that you have less of an income tax liability than the figure that turbo-tax displays.  The IRS is going to make you fill out an Amended 1040X and send it in.

Now, here are a couple testimonials:  If you eFiled on Turbotax, Santa Barbara Bank and Trust handled it.

INTUIT AND SSBT WORK TOGETHER TO DECEIVE AND STEAL:

    -  Another possibility as to why you have not received your stimulus check:  were you able to take the Child Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit?

"Hope this can answer a ??? for some that used turbo tax.... which I did. It didnt {sic} automatically check the box that a child qualified for child tax credit...line 6c i believe. Which would normally be checked even if you didnt {sic} qualify for the credit. Hence {,} even though you have them as a dependent you dont {sic} get credit....I spent an hour on the phone with {the} irs and was told ...too bad {;} nothing you can do except ask for it next yr maybe. And you cant {sic} file an amended return to fix the problem. Yea{,} right. And I will never{,} ever use turbo tax again!"

    - SSBT: all banks do it. But heinous&ripoff, jackson-dimwit and others misled. They and the software providers make you think that this is not like a bank. It is, and they steal just as all banks do. If you got a RAL, the banks that Jackson- nitwit and heinous & ripoff use may have withheld more from your refund than you were led to believe. Hence, the refund that you submitted to the IrS was not the same and caused a snafu from the IRS. You will be receiving a check in the mail in June, July, August or September:

"Turbotax and SBBT working together in a scam. They cleverly hide the extra $30 fee to efile. Then SBBT will send you what appears to be a check in the mail, but its not a check at all- its a loan with an outrageous interest rate. DO NOT USE TURBOTAX AT ALL. DO NOT USE THE OPTION TO DEDUCT MONEY FROM YOUR REFUND TO PAY FOR EFILING, DO NOT CASH LOAN CHECK FROM SBBT UNTIL YOU ARE SURE IT IS COVERED"

With Intuit Turbotax, another possibility. Do you have to pay local income tax {NYC, Phil, Boston, Harrisburg, Balt, Pittsburg, Clev, Chicago, etc}? A man e-mailed to me this testimony: "...Apparently turbo tax does not know about the "City of New York" tax ,so it was 1100 less than I expected. Thank you though! "

It could be, although of course it could be he didn't input any thing in to the software under local inocme tax withheld.

In any event, Intuit goofed and a lot of taxpayers are angry. There's even more problems than this, but they have time to clean up the mess by next January. Good luck.

  2. Did you get a postcard or something a while ago indicating that you qualify?  Did you file a tax return last year?

  3. Go to irs.gov ; follow the directions and you will have your answer . Good luck !

  4. You may not be qualified for it.

They are mailed out by the last 3 digits of your social security number.

  5. well there are a couple of factors! First do you qualify? You can find out by going to IRS.gov. Second did you file using turbo tax? If you filed using Turbo tax and had your fees deducted from your refund then you will get a paper check instead of direct deposit. Look at the Irs website and see when yours will be mailed.

  6. You will get the rebate when you get it.  Don't count on it until it is actually in your hand.  Be patient.

  7. Some people who filed with Turbo Tax thought they were getting a direct deposit rebate, when in reality, they are getting a paper check.  If the IRS sent your refund directly to your bank account, I figure there is a 50/50 chance you got a direct deposit.  Everybody else who filed with Turbo Tax will get a paper rebate check - main reason being that the IRS sent your refund to a Turbo Tax bank account, then Turbo Tax sent the refund to your bank account or card or whatever...  The IRS is sending you a paper check because they did not have your bank account.

If you have more questions about that, look at some of the other answers and questions...

Take a look at the IRS website and check their schedule against the last two digits of your social security number.  If you don't get a check within six weeks after that date, then you should contact the IRS.  Remember that they are generating millions of checks - and they will get to yours in due time.

Part of what is happening is that there are two or three branches of the government dealing with the stimulus payments.  First you have the IRS department calculating the stimulus payments.  Then you have a different IRS department generating the letters.  But the checks do not come from the IRS - they are sent out by the same SSA department that issues social security checks - so the IRS has to transmit the information to SSA who then has to generate the checks...  SO you get three different departments - probably located in three different states sending letters or checks all over the country.  If you live near the letter generating department, you probably get your letter first, while if you live near the check generating department, you may get your check first.

My understanding is that the IRS website will update with information about your rebate about the same time as the letter and check are generated.  This happens about a week before your check is processed.  If you have a high last two digits, then your check or letter probably will not be processed until July - so you do not need to worry yet.

  8. According to the schedule we should have seen a direct deposit by May 9th, so when it didn't come I assumed we were getting a paper check mailed to us. Much to my surprise, I checked our bank account today (May 29th) to find a DD had been made. We would not have received a paper check until June 20.

You can check the website at irs.gov and use the "where is my stimulus check" tool to see if it gives you a date and info.
