Why have loads of petrol garages in south London closed down?

  1. loads and loads of independent petrol stations have closed down because there is very little money to be made on fuel - I believe that we're at the lowest number of stations since the 1930's, when every village had a little filling station with globe-type pumps outside (often they were the blacksmiths, before becoming a motor-car workshop and then selling petroleum spirit)


  2. Where exactly? I see them all the time when I drive around south London!

  3. So they can build lots of flats on valuable land,houses are not viable when 10 flats can be put on the same space.

  4. Because it's not worth driving round London any more roads are too congested,people are leaving their cars at home.(Quicker walking  )
