Question:

Why have one of my tadpoles died?

I cought some tadpoles from a drying up puddle about a month ago and i released about all of them except for five that haven't grown yet and are growing very slow only one has visible legs,that's also the only one eating,the one that died had it's stomach opened up and was on a twig,I'm feeding them lettuce they were all doing fine until about two days ago.

  1. I don't think lettuce is the right food to be feeding them.


  2. Lettuce is not the correct food for them. They get nutrition from mud and other things in the water. So where ever you found them at, you might try digging up some dirt and putting it in the tank. That might help them and keep them from dying. Though with tadpoles that sometimes happens. But your one might have died because the others were hungry so they killed it.

  3. I think it was a mob hit.

  4. The other tadpoles probably attacked it or it might just have died.  They eat fish food O. K. and bugs which you might not want to bring into your home.  Good luck.
